Latent Drill privacy policy

Last updated: 26 September 2026

Latent Drill is a flashcard and practice app for machine learning interview preparation. It is built by one developer, has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and does not send anything to the developer.

What is stored on your device

All of this is kept in the app's private storage on your phone. The API key is stored on the device, unencrypted, in the same place as your progress. It is never included in progress backups you export. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data, deletes everything.

What leaves your device

Nothing, unless you add an API key.

The optional grading, voice interview, system design and teach-back features use a large language model. They only work after you paste an API key in Settings. When you use one of them, the app sends the question, the reference answer and what you wrote or said to the endpoint you configured (DeepSeek's API is filled in as a default, and you can change it to any compatible service). The request goes directly from your phone to that endpoint, and is covered by that provider's own privacy policy. It is not sent anywhere else, and the developer never sees it. Remove the key in Settings and these requests stop.

Progress export creates a file or copies text only when you ask it to; where it goes after that is up to you.

Permissions

Children

The app is aimed at adults preparing for technical interviews and is not directed at children.
